Hikaru Honda works at a small electronics factory in a suburb north of Kanto region and leads a quiet life with his dog Ringo. One day, he decides to go to a Paul McCartney concert at Tokyo Dome with his fellow Beatlemaniac, Takafumi Hirayama. After Poolsideman, which won the Japanese Cinema Splash Award at the 2016 TIFF and was critically acclaimed at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival and other festivals, the Watanabe brothers have become one of the world's most-watched Japanese filmmakers. This latest film is a gem of a road movie. Infused with the Watanabe's unique sense of humor and melancholy.
DirectorHirobumi Watanabe
Born in Tochigi in 1982. With his brother and film composer, Yuji, founded the production group Foolish Piggies Films in 2013 and began making films in his hometown. He wrote and directed And the Mud Ship Sails Away (2013), 7 Days (2015), and Poolsideman (2016), which won the Japanese Cinema Splash Award. Party 'Round the Globe marks his 4th film at TIFF.
